This final chapter in an incredible animated series was amazing. It had all the humor and fire action that we enjoy seeing on the screen. It also had the relationship bonds devloped further particularly Astrid/Hiccup and Hiccup/Toothless. Most importantly it had a take away point too. Yes the other two had them as well.
This is story of saying good-bye and letting go. Toothless finds himself a love interest, the Light Fury, as Astrid dubs her to be. However , the Light Fury is wild and belongs with the other wild dragons. Hiccup faces an issue of protecting his people and the dragons he rescues from dragon trappers. Hiccup attempts to take them all to the Hidden World, hence the title, enabling both his people and dragons to disappear forever. Sadly this does not work because the Hidden World belongs to the dragons alone and Toothless becomes torn between the Light Fury and Hiccup.
Gobber and the other villagers encourage Astrid and Hiccup to tie the knot, but both do not feel entirely ready or certain. Particularly Hiccup, who has seen his father having to lead his people alone. Thankfully with Valka's push, Astrid is able push Hiccup in the right direction and enables him to see that he has always been capable of being strong-willed, stubborn, and determined, but Toothless just made things easier.
Both these relationships ultimately tie the ending where Hiccup finally accepts that he can live without Toothless and the other villagers can live without their dragons. That dragons have to live in the Hidden World without their riders for each of their safety because the world isn't ready for humans and dragons living together in peace. Hiccup also learns that he isn't alone and does not need to lead his people alone. He has Astrid at his side and of course he ties the knot to make it official that she is the new chieftess of Berk.
The ending is bittersweet, but it helps us all learn to let go and make necessary sacrifices for a better future. The only minus that can be said is that the middle part felt rushed and felt practically non-existent, but all in all it was a great film. Not as a great as the other two, but still good. Plus we get to see Hiccup and Astrid's children, also little light/night furies.
